Shaping Room LLC, the world's smallest fragrance house which produced S-Perfume®, was established in February 2000 at co-founder Nobi S-'s sculpture studio in DUMBO (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass), Brooklyn, New York, probably the most unlikely place to start a fragrance business.

However DUMBO is one of the most creative and vibrant environments today with thousands of talented artists from all over the world. Always on the edge and ahead of its time, Shaping Room blends naturally in the world's leading art community.

The company was named after a small and narrow cell where surfboards were shaped into a perfect form by skilled craftsmen called shapers. A surfboard shaper himself, Nobi S- began his artistic career by sculpting scrap materials in a shaping room. The name suggests where it all began...

Shaping Room's corporate spirit is a unique blend of classical French perfumery and creative vibes from the Pacific Ocean. In between its French partners and Nobi S-'s free spirit, New York is the right place to be for Shaping Room.

The Creator: Nobi S-

"Don't be fooled, S-Perfume didn't come from a brainstorming session for a best seller in a corporate meeting room. It all started with my obsessive quest to create visible-invisible sculptures. It was just another dog day of summer in Brooklyn... I realized how much I missed the cool saltwater spray of a clean-breaking wave in the Pacific. So, in an attempt to capture the sensation of that moment, with the help of the master perfumer and former collaborator on my Olfactory Art Projects, I started to create a scent that would immediately take me back into the Pacific swell. Once the visitors at my studio smelled the scent, the chase was on. One bottle became two, two became four and so on. S-Perfume was born and a perfumery revolution had begun!"
