Shaping Room, the world's smallest fragrance house which produced S-Perfume®, was established in February 2000 at co-founder Nobi Shioya's sculpture studio in DUMBO (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass), Brooklyn, New York, probably the most unlikely place to start a fragrance business.

However Brooklyn, New York is one of the most creative and vibrant environments today with thousands of talented artists from all over the world. Always on the edge and ahead of its time, Shaping Room blends naturally in the world's leading art community.

The company was named after a small and narrow cell where surfboards were shaped into a perfect form by skilled craftsmen called shapers. Once a surfboard shaper himself, Nobi began his artistic career by sculpting scrap materials in a shaping room. The name suggests where it all began...

Shaping Room's corporate spirit is a unique blend of classical French perfumery and creative vibes from the Pacific Ocean. In between its French partners, and Nobi's free spirit, New York is the right place to be for Shaping Room.
